UAE's first off-grid PV system built by Q-Cells and CCC

Q-Cells consummated its newly formed relationship with Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), the Middle East’s largest construction firm, by commissioning the first off-grid PV installation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 368kW system sits atop a camp housing more than 5,000 workers at the Qusahwira oil field in the UAE desert, and will provide an estimated 610MWh of electricity a year for air conditioning, kitchen appliances and other daytime power demand.

Q-Cells performed the front-end engineering work and supplied more than 1,500 multicrystalline modules to the project, while CCC handled the installation.

Q-Cells and CCC “intend to jointly offer their services for future PV projects in the Middle East”, the companies say.
