Martifer Solar enters Brazil with General Motors project

Martifer Solar is opening a subsidiary in Brazil and has signed an agreement with General Motors Brasil (GM) for the construction of a 300kW PV project.

The project will be installed at a GM plant in Joinville, Santa Catarina state.

"This is a very important step in our strategy," says Henrique Rodrigues, chief executive at Martifer Solar, a subsidiary of Portugal’s Martifer Group. “We have our objective well defined and we believe in the high potential of the Brazilian market.”

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency, Aneel, is currently designing legislation for a net metering scheme for renewable energies.

The ministry of mines and energy, the MME, is simultaneously analysing potential scenarios, including solar power-only tenders, for bringing large-scale solar projects…
