New Global Solar Council advocates for free trade

The chief executives of seven of the world's largest solar PV companies are joining together to promote sustainable industry growth and development.

The Global Solar Council (GSC), launched today in Brussels, is comprised of Applied Materials, Dow Corning, DuPont, First Solar, Lanco Solar, Phoenix Solar, Siemens and Suntech Power. Their efforts will include the promotion of PV to senior government officials, emphasizing the need for public policy to continue supporting the industry.

Upon launching, the GSC released a white paper calling on governments "to promote the creation of sustainable solar markets by allowing the solar industry to compete freely and fairly on the basis of quality, technology, service, and price".
