SunEdison switches on 25MW of PV capacity in Gujarat

US-based solar developer SunEdison has switched on a 25MW plant in the Indian PV hotspot of Gujarat.

SunEdison says the project – part of a multi-developer solar park at Charanka village, Patan district – was completed in four months.

Gujarat is among the Indian states with the biggest solar ambitions, including its own incentive scheme and a 3GW PV capacity target by 2015 – all above and beyond the scope of the country’s National Solar Mission.

The Charanka complex is central to that push. Currently hosting 200MW, the solar park is eventually expected to expand to 500MW.
