Import tariffs levied on Chinese solar panels will not help US companies to protect their market share, warns Gao Jifan, chief executive of Trina Solar.

Speaking at the Solarcon China conference in Shanghai, Gao called for an end to trade barriers and urged the industry to use its regional strengths to work together.

“The so-called anti-dumping and anti-subsidy moves...cannot protect the local enterprises to grow stronger,” Gao said, speaking just hours after the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced duties on Chinese cells and modules.
