SunEdison-backed group to build Israel's largest PV project

The Israeli government has awarded a 30MW PV project to SunEdison-backed developer Ashalim Sun, which has 28 months to finish construction and patch the array into the grid.

The project – which will be by far the largest PV installation in Israel upon completion – will receive 0.54 shekels ($0.14) per kWh for 27 years. After that, ownership will be transferred to the government.

Ashalim Sun beat off several other bidders, including one backed by EDF-owned EnXco.

The array will be included as part of a long-delayed 250MW solar park to be developed at the Ashalim communal settlement in Israel’s southern Negev desert.
