Solar Millennium ex-boss gets top job at ABB-backed Novatec

Christoph Wolff has taken the reins as chief executive of Germany’s Novatec Solar – the ABB-backed concentrating solar power (CSP) specialist – five months after walking away from the top job at bankrupt rival Solar Millennium.

Wolff – an expert in the logistics and transportation sectors, with a 15-year career at the consultancy McKinsey behind him – will take the job with immediate effect. Hans-Gerd Fischer, Novatec’s interim chief executive, will revert to his erstwhile position as head of project development.

Wolff took the helm at Solar Millennium in early 2011, at the beginning of the company’s downward spiral that concluded with its collapse into insolvency in December.

His “brief tenure” at Solar Millennium gave him a “solid understanding of the global solar-thermal market”, according to Novatec.
