Softbank, Mitsui 'may build 30MW plant' after Japan's solar FIT

Japanese trading company Mitsui and mobile telecoms group Softbank may build a 30MW solar power plant after the government introduces new subsidies for the energy source this summer.

SB Energy – Softbank’s clean energy unit – and Mitsui could set up the project in Tottori prefecture, a spokesman for Softbank tells Bloomberg.

The project will cost about 10bn yen ($123m), according to Bloomberg, citing the Asahi newspaper. The companies plan to start operating the project around summer in 2013 if they decide to proceed with it, adds the spokesman.
