Silex Solar poised to restart Australian module production

Australia’s Silex Solar plans to resume manufacturing at its New South Wales module plant as it looks to larger-scale PV generation projects.

The company shut its Sydney plant in August 2011 after falling victim to the dramatic slump in the rooftop solar market, but it has spent A$1.8m ($1.92m) restructuring operations and says it is ready to meet rising demand for commercial and utility-scale solar.

“While trading conditions in the Australian solar panel market continue to be challenging, Silex Solar believes it is now in a better position to implement a new business model with a greater focus on commercial-scale and larger-scale PV generation projects,” it says.
