NRG Solar joins with China's GCL-Poly for US project push

Chinese polysilicon giant GCL-Poly and New Jersey-based developer NRG Solar are forming a joint-venture company to build projects in the US.

The new venture, called Sunora, will be 50/50 owned by GCL and NRG Solar, a subsidiary of NRG Energy.

A statement from GCL says Sunora will use its "performance-optimised PV system equipment" in conjunction with NRG’s racking technologies “to substantially enhance the financial returns of projects”.

GCL says it has already provided 70MW of PV equipment to NRG since October 2011 and “may have the opportunity" to provide NRG Solar with 200MW more each year until the end of 2014. The nature of the "equipment" referred to is not specified.
