Isofoton links with Chinese oil giant for 150MW PV push

Spanish solar manufacturer and developer Isofoton has formed a joint venture with Tianjin Lishen Battery to build 150MW of PV projects in China and elsewhere.

Tianjin Lishen Battery is a subisidary of CNOOC, China’s third-biggest oil company. The new business will be called Isofoton Lishen New Energy.

CNOOC will invest $300m in the projects, according to a statement from Malaga-based Isofoton, which completed a high-concentration PV (HCPV) plant in Gormud, China last year.

The Spanish company says CNOOC will bring technology for developing batteries on a large scale to the venture, as well as funding.
