Courts rebuff UK government again over PV FIT cut plan

The UK Court of Appeal has ruled against the government in its bid to lower the PV feed-in tariff (FIT) from last December, in a case seen as having broad implications for small-scale renewables in Britain.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) does not yet know whether it will be allowed to appeal the judgement yet again, this time to the Supreme Court.

But given that its case has now been rejected twice – this time unanimously by a panel of three justices – its ultimate chances of success are seen as low, even if it is granted a hearing before the Supreme Court.
