Adani and Azure bring 45MW of new Indian PV into service

The Adani Group commissioned a 40MW PV project in Gujarat and Azure Power flipped the ‘on switch' at a 5MW array in Rajasthan, as a growing number of developers find traction in the Indian solar market.

Their successes come as many other developers have struggled to meet the firm deadlines imposed by Gujarat’s statewide incentive programme, while schemes offered by other states like Karnataka have run into legal challenges.

Adani’s 40MW project is India’s largest grid-connected PV array, and represents the conglomerate’s first foray into utlity-scale renewables. The project will be expanded to 100MW.

Azure Power has commissioned the first 5MW PV project allocated under India’s National Solar Mission (NSM) in the state of Rajasthan, using modules from First Solar and inverters from SMA.
