Main US solar group takes state-focused body into its fold

The main US solar trade association is merging with another advocacy group focused on state-level policies.

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), which spent much of 2011 inking collaboration agreements with state and regional chapters, now brings into its fold the Solar Alliance (SA).

The latter body works on issues critical to solar that are often decided by state lawmakers and utility commissioners, such as net metering and interconnection standards.

Staff from the Solar Alliance (SA) are joining SEIA as part of a new state affairs department, headed by Carrie Cullen Hitt, formerly SA's president.
