Now China launches trade probe into US renewables support

The Chinese will investigate support schemes in five US states

China is launching an investigation into US government support for its renewable energy industry, in a move sure to be seen as retaliation for a similar inquiry initiated by American solar companies.

China’s Ministry of Commerce ( Mofcom) said it had decided to start “a trade barrier investigation into US renewable energy support policies and subsidies” following complaints by Chinese companies.

It comes after Solar World and six other American solar companies prompted the US Department of Commerce to investigate dumping of Chinese solar panels on the US market.
