SunEdison expects 60MW on line in Texas in first half of 2012

SunEdison expects four utility-scale PV projects in Texas totalling 60MW to begin commercial operation by next July.

Despite excellent irradiation, Duke Energy’s 14MW Blue Wing project, which came on line last November, is the state’s only large solar facility to date.

This year, SunEdison acquired the US division of Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), which was developing the 30MW Webberville solar project 24km outside the state capital, Austin, and a 10MW PV scheme in west Texas.

SunEdison’s director of utility projects, John Lichtenberger, says the Webberville project will be operational next month. It will use a ground-mounted, single-axis tracking system, and comprise 127,000 panels from Log in to read complete article.
