Belectric and Solar Frontier wrap-up 4.2MW French PV plant

Germany’s Belectric and Solar Frontier of Japan have completed a 4.2MW copper indium selenium (CIS) thin-film PV farm in Bessan, France.

The plant – the first French installation to use Solar Frontier’s CIS technology – is made up of almost 30,000 “all-black” 140-watt modules, installed at an incline of 15° rather than the more conventional 25°.

“By lowering the inclination of the solar modules, we were able to lower the profile of the power plant itself, leading to better integration in the surrounding landscape,” says Belectric’s France general manager Jochen Meyer.

PV systems integrator Belectric claims the performance levels of the modules ensures continued high output even at the lower tilt angle.
