JinkoSolar vows to 'learn lessons' as riot factory reopens

Chinese PV manufacturer JinkoSolar has pledged to "apply the lessons learned" at its Haining factory across its business, as it reopened the plant three weeks after a pollution incident sparked violent protests.

A fluoride discharge from its solid waste storage facility contaminated a local water channel behind the solar cell plant, in China’s Zhejiang Province, at the end of August, killing fish and pigs and prompting local residents to march on the factory and clash with riot police.

JinkoSolar says it has taken all the steps recommended by a top environmental engineering firm licensed by the Chinese government, which complemented measures it had already taken to upgrade its environmental protection practices.
