Jinko restarting PV production at pollution-scare plant

Chinese PV manufacturer JinkoSolar will re-open its Haining factory on Monday (October 10), three weeks after a pollution incident at the plant sparked violent protests, Recharge can reveal.

A fluoride discharge at the cell plant, in China’s Zhejiang Province, contaminated a local water channel, killing fish and pigs and prompting local residents to march on the factory and clash with riot police.

Speaking to Recharge from Taipei, chief marketing officer Arturo Herrero says the plant, which was shut following the disturbances, will resume production on Monday.
