Abengoa's Mojave Solar nails $1.2bn US loan guarantee

Abengoa’s 250MW Mojave Solar Project in California has had its $1.2bn loan guarantee confirmed by the US Energy Department (DOE).

The Spanish group’s $1.6bn concentrating solar power (CSP) project in San Bernardino County was offered a conditional guarantee in June. The confirmation means financing is now complete and allows construction of the project to proceed, says Abengoa.

The US government pledges to underwrite debt for major projects via the loan guarantees, helping developers to access finance on the commercial market.
