DuPont starts patent action against Heraeus over solar paste

German materials group Heraeus has vowed to fight legal action by US industrial giant DuPont over alleged breaches of a solar technology patent.

The US group claims Heraeus infringed a patent relating to front-side metallisation paste materials that form part of DuPont’s Solamet solar product range.

The patterns of metallic pastes applied to the front and back of cells are designed to collect and transport the electricity produced by the devices, and form a key element in the overall efficiency of a solar-power system.
