Southern, Ted Turner team to develop solar PV projects

Southern Company and billionaire Ted Turner are forming a “strategic alliance” to develop and invest in large-scale solar photovoltaic projects in the US Southwest, and possibly other renewable technologies in the country.

"This alliance unites our common goal to explore and develop new renewable energy projects," says David Ratcliffe, chief executive of Southern, the largest power company in the US Southeast.

Turner is the largest individual landowner in North America with more than two million acres. The two sides will explore renewable projects both on Turner’s land as well as other suitable sites.
