The Midway project will be built on Imperial County farmland

Gestamp Solar and US developer 8minutenergy Renewables have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric for their 50MW Midway project, set to kick in from 2020.

Midway – set on low-productivity farmland in Imperial County, California – will enter construction next year and sell its electricity to “third parties” from 2016 to 2020, when PG&E will become the off-taker.

8minutenergy and Gestamp Solar, owned by Portugal's Gestamp group, will develop and build Midway.

California-based 8minutenergy – the developer behind the under-construction 266MW Mount Signal mega-PV array (now owned by Silver Ridge Power) – says the deal with PG&E lifts its in-house PPAs to more 375MW.
