NextEra Energy Resources has begun commercial operation of its Mountain View Solar Energy Project, a 20MW PV facility located in the city of North Las Vegas.
NV Energy, Nevada’s dominant electric utility, is purchasing all power generated by the project under long-term contract.
The facility consists of approximately 84,000 individual PV modules installed on ground mounted arrays. Development on the Mountain View Solar Project began in 2010. Initial project construction started in early June 2013.
Blattner Energy handled site preparation; foundation post installation; erection of Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ Solar Tracker system; installation of 84,060 Trina Solar modules; the DC and AC collection systems; installation of the SCADA system; and coordinated and performed plant commissioning and startup.
Blattner also built the project’s substation and transmission line.
NextEra Energy Resources is the largest US wholesale generator of wind and solar power.
