The installation at Puerto Rico’s Conventions Centre is composed of 17,000 PV modules installed over parking spaces on both sides of the facility, with another 2,000 on its roof.
Gestamp Solar has invested more than $20m, creating 125 jobs during the eight months of the construction and 25 permanent positions for maintenance services.
Pablo Otín, Gestamp Solar’s country manager in North America, claims the project is the biggest to marry PV and parking shelters in Latin America.
This plant will generate almost 8,000MWh annually, the equivalent of the power consumption of 725 homes.
