Portugal’s Martifer Solar has won EPC work at what will become Latin America’s largest PV array – the 30MW Aura Solar 1 project in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.

With just 13MW of PV in the ground at present, the project will quadruple the installed PV capacity in Mexico – considered a “key market” in Martifer Solar’s growth plans.

The client, Mexico’s Gauss Energia, will benefit from the first long-term power purchase agreement the Comision Federawl de Electricidad has offered to a privately owned utility-scale PV plant.

In addition to its EPC work, expected to be completed by August, Martifer will stay on to operate and maintain the plant.
