SunEdison, Petrobras link for PV

US-based developer SunEdison will build a 1.1MW PV plant in Brazil in partnership with local oil and gas giant Petrobras.

The project is one of the biggest yet to be officially announced in Brazil, where solar has yet to take off despite the country’s huge potential.

The plant will be located in Alto do Rodrigues, Rio Grande do Norte state.

The project is part of a research initiative Petrobras is leading for Brazilian power regulator (ANEEL).

Brazil has only about 20MW of solar in place, most of it in the form of pilot or demonstrator projects.
