NRG seeks solar projects investors

NRG Energy is likely to sell interests in several large US solar facilities that are coming into commercial operation by early 2014, with the number of potential partners and investors candidates expanding as start-up dates approach, company executives say.

“Our timetable is this year,” chief executive David Crane told analysts on a Wednesday conference call. 

The 250MW California Valley Solar Ranch PV project and 381MW Ivanpah solar tower facility are scheduled to be online in the fourth quarter.  NRG is part owner of Ivanpah along with Google and BrightSource Energy. NRG’s 25MW Avra Valley and 26MW Borrego also recently entered commercial operation.
