Canadian developer Atlantic Wind & Solar says it has received approval from Ecuador to build two $150m PV plants that will provide a total 58.43MW of power, which would make them the largest solar projects in South America.
The
proposed
facilities
would
generate
enough
power
for
85,000
homes
and
reduce
annual
CO2
emissions
by
nearly
50,000
tonnes
a
year.
The
company
has
a
purchase
agreement
with
Ecuador’s
power
authority
under
the
country’s
feed-in
tariff
programme.
