First Solar buys 60MW North Star

First Solar has acquired the 60MW North Star PV project in California from NorthLight Power – comprising Norway’s REC and the US-based Summit Power Group – with the array to begin construction a year later than previously envisaged.

NorthLight, which claims tohave some 300MW more PV projects under development across the southwest US, hadoriginally claimed North Star would enter construction this year and befinished in 2014, with the power already under contract to Pacific Gas &Electric.

However, REC now claims theproject will not enter construction until 2014, with the expected completiondate pushed back to 2015.

North Star was designed touse REC’s crystalline silicon modules.
