Catalina, located on 900 acres ofprivately-owned land southwest of the Tehachapi and Piute mountains, becomes theeighth-largest PV project in the world, according to the French-owned developer.

The thin-film project comprises82MW Solar Frontier and 61MW First Solar modules. An 11.6km transmissionline connects the facility to a substation.

EDF Renewable Services will provide operationsand maintenance services for the plant, which will generate enough electricityfor 35,000 homes.
