First Solar acquired the project from developer K Road, and said construction at the site northeast of Las Vegas could begin as soon as the fourth quarter of this year.
The plant – sited on land leased from the Moapa Band of Paiutes tribe – is slated for completion by the end of 2015.
First Solar will use its Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) thin-film modules at the project, which has a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).
