First Solar signs Kingbird PPAs

The City of Pasadena signed a 20-year PPA for 20MW(AC) and the cities of Riverside, Colton and Azusa jointly signed a similar deal.

First Solar is developing — and will construct — the project.

Depending on final permitting, construction on Kingbird, located near Rosamond in the Antelope Valley, could start in mid-2014.

In its first year, Kingbird will produce enough clean, renewable energy to power more than 11,000 homes, offsetting more than 20,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.
