SunPower is among the most diversified solar companies in the world, with business interests spanning cell manufacturing in Asia, residential solar leasing in the US and utility-scale project development around the world, from California to Chile to South Africa.
Last month it jointly launched a yieldco with US rival First Solar, called 8point3 Energy Partners.
But one of its most intriguing moves in recent years has been establishing joint ventures in China to build factories for its "C7" low-concentration PV (LCPV) tracker systems — which concentrate the sun by a factor of seven on to regular PV cells — and deploy them at grand scale in China.
