A committee under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is considering the possibility of using auctions to award projects in the future, said Bloomberg.
It quoted one official on the committee as saying that there was broad support within the industry for the introduction of an auctioning system.
Japan currently offers a FIT rate of ¥27 ($0.22)/kWh over 20 years for PV, down from the ¥29/kWh tariff provided from the beginning of the current fiscal year on 1 April to 1 July.
