The industry body says the build-out, which compares with 6.95GW connected in 2014, is set against a backdrop of a better-than-25% expansion to more than 50GW worldwide last year, up from 40.1GW in 2014.
Europe's solar growth found its main driver in the UK, while demand in most other countries flatlined or declined.
