The price increase for the key solar raw material – from an average $12/kg recorded in the first week of February – is predicted as Chinese developers chase the 30 June deadline to avoid feed-in tariff changes.
IHS solar supply chain analyst Karl Melkonyan said: “Buyers cannot wait any longer to buy polysilicon for solar modules, if they want them produced and installed before the end of June.”
