The US solar group, majority owned by French oil company Total, will erect nearly 400MW of capacity in Yucatán state and more than 100MW more in Guanajuato. The projects must be online by 2018.

The capacity in Yucatán comes as part of SunPower's Vega projects, a spokeswoman confirms to Recharge.

California-based SunPower was among the biggest winners in Mexico’s blockbuster renewables tender, netting 20% of the total capacity allocated, and 25% of the total solar capacity, the company says.
