Hanergy building 50MW in Henan
Chinese thin-film solar specialist Hanergy Solar is developing a 50MW ground-mount PV project in central China.
The group started building the 627.6m yuan ($100.7m) project in Xuchang, Henan province, in April. Hanergy plans to acquire roughly 502m yuan in financing from banks to support the project.
Construction is expected to wrap up in March 2016, the company said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange.
In May 2013, Hanergy said it would start looking for more opportunities to use its thin-film PV kit in the global downstream solar segment, via its new Hanergy Global Solar Power and Applications Group.
Last December, it completed a 100MW PV plant in China’s Qinghai province and a 20MW solar project in the country’s western Xinjiang region.
Hanergy, formerly known as Apollo Solar, is majority owned by the Hanergy Group. Over the past two years, the Beijing-based group has purchased copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) specialists MiaSolé, Global Solar Energy and Solibro, a former Q Cells subsidiary.
