They will be located on Army-owned land at Fort Stewart near Savannah, Fort Benning near Columbus and Fort Gordon near Augusta. The Army, a major customer for the utility, will purchase the power under an existing contract.
The three plants will be brought online at or below the utility’s avoided cost - the estimated amount for it to generate comparable energy from other sources.
