The US group will make an undisclosed investment in the Kumenan array in Okayama prefecture via its GE Energy Financial Services unit.
It is due to start generating power in the first quarter of 2016, said a statement from developer Pacifico Energy, a subsidiary of Virginia Solar which this year plans to start building 200MW across four projects.
Kumenan will sell power to a local utility under a 20-year purchase agreement.
