GE, Yingli in 32MW Japan PV plant

GE will invest in a 32MW PV plant in Japan to be equipped by Yingli Solar.

The US group will make an undisclosed investment in the Kumenan array in Okayama prefecture via its GE Energy Financial Services unit.

It is due to start generating power in the first quarter of 2016, said a statement from developer Pacifico Energy, a subsidiary of Virginia Solar which this year plans to start building 200MW across four projects.

Kumenan will sell power to a local utility under a 20-year purchase agreement.

EPC at the project will be handled by Toyo Engineering.

In late March GE confirmed it is contemplating an investment in what would be Japan's biggest project, a 230MW array in Setouchi, Okayama Prefecture.
