China's Yingli first announced plans to supply PV modules for the 87m ringgit ($27.2m) plant in the town of Gemas last year.

Amcorp Properties, a unit of Kuala Lumpur-based property developer and financial services provider Amcorp, will sell the electricity to utility Tenaga Nasional under a 21-year power purchase agreement, said Malaysian news agency Bernama.

Earlier this week, GE revealed plans to build a 32MW PV plant in Japan using Yingli solar modules.
