Scheduled for completion in 2015, the facility will supply 5% of the island’s annual electricity needs, or for about 4,000 homes.

The storage system will utilize a 6MWlithium-ion battery system that will be installed alongside the array.

The Anahola system is the second project that REC Solar has developed with KIUC, following a 1.2 MW array in Kapa‘a. The company, based in California, has almost 20MW of utility and commercial-scale projects completed or underway in Hawaii.
