Q Cells 'unaffected' by patent row

Hanwha Q Cells Japan has shrugged off a recently-filed patent infringement action by Japanese PV manufacturer Kyocera, claiming the matter "does not touch any Q Cells products".

Earlier this month, Kyocera filed an action in the Tokyo District Court concerning its "three-busbar electrode structure" that increases energy-conversion efficiency in modules.

Hanwha Q Cells was initially silent on the issue, but said in a statement today: "Hanwha Q Cells Japan believes that this case is a one-sided action taken by Kyocera.”

"I can assure our customers that no Q Cells product is affected by this case," said Charles Kim, CEO at the Korean-owned PV group.
