WindStream in 80kW PV-wind hybrid

US-based WindStream Technologies has commissioned a 80 kWp wind-solar hybrid installation in Kingston, Jamaica.

The hybrid wind-solar installation consists of 50 WindStream SolarMill units with a capacity to generate more than 25kW of wind energy and 55kW of solar.

WindStream said it expects the energy cost savings to exceed $2m over the course of the installation's projected 25-year life span.

The project was commissioned on the rooftop of the Myers, Fletcher & Gordon (MFG) law firm.

"We have been at the forefront of the Jamaican legal landscape for 70 years and we are pleased to be continuing that trend by leading in Jamaican sustainability and renewable energy," said Donovan Cunningham, MFG's chief operating officer.

WindStream recently opened an office in Hyderabad, India, and has also secured distribution agreements in Turkey, Ghana, Liberia, New Zealand and Tanzania.
