Yingli confirms 32MW Japan order
China’s Yingli Solar has confirmed a 32MW module supply deal for a ground-mount PV project being built by the developer Pacifico Energy in Okayama, Japan.
The contours of the deal began to take shape last month.
Yingli says it will deliver 108,000 of its 72-cell modules to the Kumenan project in 2015.
The project is being financed by GE Energy Financial Services, and developed by Tokyo-based Pacifico Energy, a utility-scale solar developer which is a subsidiary of Virginia Solar.
Yingli’s sales within Japan rose more than tenfold last year, but chief executive Liansheng Miao claims the company’s customer base in Japan “has quadrupled” since the end of 2013.
In January Yingli, the world’s largest maker of PV modules, entered into a distribution agreement with Japanese PV system provider XSOL.
