SolarReserve wins El Salvador deal
SolarReserve has won a contract to build a 20MW solar PV plant in El Salvador and sell the output under long-term contract to electric distribution companies there.
The Acajutla project will be the country’s first utility-scale solar facility.
It is the first of several in SolarReserve's pipeline of 800MW of solar power projects in development in Latin America, which includes advanced both PV and solar thermal technology.
“As demand for electricity continues to grow, Latin America represents a great opportunity for solar power development," says SolarReserve chief executive Kevin Smith.
“With the region's excellent solar resource and escalating and uncertain prices of fossil fuels, solar power makes more than just environmental sense – it makes economic sense,” he adds.
