The two companies will provide batteries at roughly ¥100,000 ($975) per kWh to address the variable nature of electricity generated by PV power plants, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.

They aim to provide storage batteries to at least 20 solar projects over the next five years, Japan’s Nikkei newspaper reported.

They will start by supplying 1MWh batteries to Mifune Holdings for a 2MW solar project on Tokushima Island, in southern Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture.
