The plant in Cape Town has an annual production capacity of 120MW and cost 80m rand ($7.4m) to build, said a statement from South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
JinkoSolar has been one of the big winners among foreign PV firms since South Africa began its renewable energy support programme in 2011.
The company has nailed module orders in excess of 300MW and grabbed a 30% market share in South Africa, according to the DTI.
